About Praxis Building Group

Experience Doing the Work, Not Just Selling It

Praxis Building Group, LLC is a residential remodeling and building company working throughout Southeast Michigan from Highland and Ann Arbor.

What Praxis Building Group Is

Praxis Building Group is a residential remodeling and building company built on decades of hands on construction and remodeling experience. Not decades of managing from an office. Decades across trades, project types, construction methods and architectural styles, on houses that were built well and houses that were not.

That background is the reason the company is structured the way it is. A homeowner planning a kitchen does not want to become the project manager. They want one company that can look at a wall and know whether it is load bearing, know what is likely running through it, know what the inspector will want to see, and know what it costs to do it correctly.

The Name

Praxis means putting knowledge into practice. It is a fitting name for a construction company, because construction is where theory meets an existing house. Plans are useful. What matters is what happens when the drywall comes off and the framing turns out to be something other than what the plan assumed.

Where the Experience Comes From

We bring practical experience across the range of residential work:

  • Residential construction, from remodels to complete structures
  • Remodeling in occupied homes
  • Project management and trade coordination
  • Multi trade projects that have to be sequenced
  • Production construction and its cost discipline
  • Custom work on houses that do not follow a standard plan
  • Problem solving when conditions are not what was expected
  • Project management, scheduling and inspection coordination
  • Renovation planning and scope development

Production Work and Custom Work Teach Different Things

Production construction teaches repeatable process: how to plan a sequence that runs, how to keep material and labor aligned, how to hold a cost structure that works. Custom work teaches the opposite skill, which is reacting well when a house presents something that no process anticipated.

Most residential projects need both. A basement finish is largely a repeatable sequence until the day the sanitary line is not where the drawings said. We have worked on both sides of that, and the goal is to bring the process discipline of production work to projects that still require judgment.

How Praxis Building Group Works With Homeowners

Most of the friction in a renovation comes from three places: scope that was never written clearly, decisions made too late in the schedule, and nobody being clearly responsible when two trades disagree.

We address those directly. Scope is defined before work starts, with inclusions and exclusions stated. Selections and long lead items are identified during preconstruction, not during framing. And there is one contractor accountable for the schedule, the trades, the inspections and the punch list.

Who Praxis Building Group Works For

Most of our clients are homeowners in Southeast Michigan, and projects range from a single bathroom to a whole house. Praxis Building Group also works with property investors, real estate professionals, property managers and buyers taking on homes that need significant renovation before they are livable or rentable.

Those clients tend to need the same thing for different reasons: a contractor who can scope accurately, sequence correctly and carry an entire project rather than one piece of it.

What Praxis Building Group Will Not Do

Praxis Building Group will not quote a project it has not scoped, and will not agree to a schedule the trades cannot hold. If a project as described will not work, the more useful answer is why, and what the alternative is.

Capability range

Small Projects Through Complete Homes

Praxis Building Group is not a handyman service, and it is not a company that only takes projects above a certain size. What matters is whether the work needs a contractor who can plan and sequence it.

01

Single room

A kitchen, a bathroom, a basement. One space, done properly, with the trades behind the finishes handled correctly.

02

Multi trade renovation

Several rooms, moved walls, updated systems. The projects where sequencing decides whether the schedule holds.

03

Whole home and rehab

Full house renovations and major property rehabilitation, including investment properties being brought back into service.

04

New construction

New homes, replacement homes, additions and detached structures built from site work and foundation up.
